Hi, you all responded to my question so i went out and bought a new power supply but still nothing. When i turn on the power switch to the back of the power supply the led on my power switch lights up and the hdd light comes on for a quick sec, the fan on the cpu turns for about a sec and then nothing else happens. When i push the power button it does nothing. Any help would be great. Thanks.

Possible problem: Motherboard is not getting the power. That power comes from your PowerUnit(inside cpu, the one from which lots of cable comes out). If your cables are connected properly, then u may need to buy a new powersource

You may have overheated the CPU...Try this. Unplug the system for a minute or so. Don't just turn off the PS. Actually unplug it from the wall. Plug it back in and see if it will go now. If it does, then check to make sure that you have adequate cooling on the CPU and adjust as necessary. If that doesn't get it, then check the power connections to the MB. They might have come loose. Not a high probability on this but it is possible. If it is not one of those things, then you will probably have to replace something. Start by checking to make sure the PS is not fried and all the connections have power. You can use a volt meter to help with this. Then check to see if there is anything burnt up on the MB and then swap out the CPU. It's doubtful that you have all those spare parts laying around so you will probably need to get it to a shop and let them help you out.

Pokey is right. Your power supply is toast, assuming that you haven't either just built this system, or haven't been messing with anything inside of the case lately. If you have, then chances are you've just accidentally unplugged the wire that goes from the case's power button to the motherboard.

No questions..... power supply is out.

Eventhough you have a light the power supply provides power to different circuits and can have one faulty circcuit.
