I've tried wiping the screen with kleenex, paper towels, and cloth, but that just smears them, it doesn't get rid of the spots. I'm afraid of using any kind of cleaner because I don't know what will or won't damage the screen. Any ideas?

after shuting down message comes up stating-

Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:
\system32\ntoskrnl.exe.
please re-install a copy of the above file.

I have a HP Pavilion zv6000 laptop. On the right side of the screen about 3 inches in is a red vertical line that comes on before windows starts and stays on and doesn't go away.

I want to purchase a new pc just the tower with basicly the new hardware. I've already purchased windows xp home. So my new pc will be purchased without an OS. I'm unsure if i should bring my cd for windows to the computer store as I don't want it to be used for eligal copies. will I need to contact microsoft to pass activation because my hardware will change. Or am I just mistaken how activation works.

My very frugal 64 year old mother would like to get a computer. She will use it for internet only. What brand do you recommend and what basic system requirements should last her a few years without having to upgrade? Are most new systems upgradeable?

If price is not really an issue, what would be a good travel laptop? I am not a fan of 12.1" screens. I currently have 14.1" screen (HP Compaq nc6220). I also think 15.4" widescreens are too big. btw, are widescreen laptops any good? They might be good for watching movies, but, would they hinder work (I found the keyboard to be too big).

I have seen dell, HP, Lenovo, Vaio, but couldn't zero on any single laptop. Any input would be good.

well i was thinking of buying a new AGP (4x) graphics card.... looking to spend about $250 (USD) but now im wondering if i should just upgrade to PCIe insead..... how much more would it be? i know ill need a new mobo, proc., RAM, and Vid. card or two...... thanks! also suggest specific parts i should use when i upgrade (like names and model numbers and prices)..... thanks!

My hard drive was clicking about a year ago and I put a bunch of stuff from my bro's CPU on my hard drive today, and was reseting my CPU trying to get my LED lights hooked up when it started beeping 3 times is my guess. I have a MSI motherboard. Do you think my hard drive went bad? Thanks for your time.

I have an HP vivera scanner/printer. I keep scanning my pictures, but I can't find them on my PC. When I hit the big "save pictures" button it says I need to select a file to save them in, but I can't figure out how to select a file. Please help, this is part of a Valentine surprise!

I have an old k7sem V3.0C motherboard from ECS Elitegroup. I have been trying to get it to run, but it wont work. There is no video signal. Also, after a few seconds of running with no video, it just shuts down. Any idea what the problem is? THanks!

Problems with my computer..keeps restarting on me

I have a compaq Presario 6000Z, with windows XP Home Edition. But for some strange reason it restarts and freeze on me alot. Im thinking could it be the motherboard or something. Is there anyway i can reset something inside the pC by like unplugging it or something. I checked to make sure the fans are working and all 3 are. im thinking it is making a power issues or something. can someone help me with this issues? Can someone tell me how where i can find the battery or motherboard to reset to maybe fix this problem?
