my laptop suddenly crashed and when i came to switch it on the next day it went to safe mode and i was told to system restore to previouse dates. i did that over and over again but the problem is still not fixed and i still don't know what is wrong with it. i upgraded my memory a few weeks before and it was working fine. i've tried defrag and running virus checks but nothing. am not a computer wizz so please be basic and simple with any help. thanks

When I scan, it just saves the file. Is there a way to scan more than one page?

I suppose it probably depends on what software I'm using, doesn't it? Well ... the truth is, I don't know what it's called; it has something to do with my HP printer.

I recently tried to install xp sp0 in my friends old laptop (660mhz processor, 128mb ram) but during installation too many files were skipped and it refused to boot. Now I realise the sp0 disk has missing files and want to reformat the disk and install sp2 but it wont allow me. Is there any way I can get in to reformat and install

My hardrive is suddenly not working becuase it says it needs to be "formated", but this apparently means I will lose all the files on the hardrive. What should I do? (I have all my music on the hard drive - i do not want to lose it!!)

i have downloaded the full series of a tv show (SAXONDALE) on my home computer and the video shows but as soon as i transfer the files over to my laptop via USB cable, the video disappears and only the audio comes on. if anybody knows how i can get the video to play can you let me know please. My PC was going on fine, but on 1st MARCH 2007 i formatted it and re-installed windows XP SP2. Now i DO NOT see any icon of SOUND near the system clock.
when i go to control panel and click on SOUNDS AND AUDIO DEVICES. the volume tab says that there is no DEVICE INSTALLED.
my motherboard is "Asus P5GL-MX (3 PCI, 1 PCI-E x16, 4 DDR DIMM, Audio, Video, LAN)"
my chipset is "Intel Grantsdale-G i915GL "
my audio adapter is "Intel 82801FB ICH6 - High Definition Audio Controller [C-0] ".

Still the same problem. I have already tried many .INF files but still i dont hear any sound.

Please GUIDE me. I am totally dependent on the answers of this question. please help me out. thanking you in advance.

It now has Windows XP , and also Windows Professional . This tower was working fine when my mother got it , but now it takes forever to just boot into Windows , just so she can play games offline. There seems to be a problem with the picture , as sometimes it is not there , and other times it is barely visible..... and we have tried several dif. monitors , one of them being very new , so we know it is not the monitor. My mother's previous computer has had problems with viruses in the past , and she did not have any protection .I was wondering if there might be a hardware problem that is causing some of this , if not all of it, and I'd like to know if anyone could help us with this?

I can connect a USB memory stick and camera and they work fine but for some reason when I connect a USB HDD, even though its the internal light comes on, windows does not recognise it. I know the HDD and cables all work, so I assume it must be something to do with the USB port or maybe drivers? Any advice would be appreciated.

im trying to use the barcode reader in visual basic. i just have a form, a textbox (with the focus on it) and no codes. i tried the barcode reader and it only sounded "toot........ toot-toot-toot-toot.. " and the value of the barcode reader didnt register in the textbox. ive already tried different kinds of barcode (the ones in the boxes of cereals, milk..) i just want to know what the problem is. im using Symbol LS-3683-1206A model.

My powerbook g4, that i have had for a little over a year wont go past the white apple screen (the screen that comes on before the deskdop comes on. it's a white screen, with an apple in the middle and a little round circle thing going round and round.) I've left it on for a while, restarted it, let the battery run out, i took the battery out.. it wont start.

It's one of the computers that had a faulty battery. I just ordered the new battery. I havn't got it yet. I had taken the old battery out a few times to check the bar codes and stuff to order the new battery. After this, my computer wouldn't log on to the desktop. It shouldn't have anythign to do with the battery, becasue the computer is supposed to work without the battery when it's plugged in.

I'm going to eventually take it in to the apple store, but i've been busy and it's going ot take me a few days or a week or something. I was wondering if anyone on here could help??
