I had to reformat because my laptop would do nothing - I could not access anything. I used my Toshiba instalation disc to re format.

what can i do, my computer will not play any audio, i was messing around with stuff in the device manger (stupid thing to do)and i must have done something wrong, I'm running windows xp sp 2, please help, my computer was working fine until i started messing around with things, PS would a system restore sort out hardware problems,

and also can I unplug my printer from the older computer and use it for the laptop and put it back, or do I have to buy another printer for the laptop? Thanks for advice

It doesnt run in safe or any other mode.Ive tried removing the add on cards,changing the ram and still no luck. Anyone with an idea??

Whenever I turn on my desktop, it says that there is a problem and that it can't get into windows. It is a black screen with options like safemode and start with settings that worked best etc. I've tried every one of them and it still will not start windows. It just beeps and starts the whole process over again. We've had the computer for a while and shortly before it did this is was telling me that it was low on memory space on the "c" drive. I tried to free up space but a few days later it started with this. Please tell me what I can do!!!!!

I have a new CD-RW drive I just installed and it works great. The question I have does not apply to my computer since it is set up for cable select however I am curious. On the back of the drive between the IDE and the audio connector is another connector. It has a plastic cover you use to go over either the master, slave, or cable select. My question is what does it matter what it is set on as nothing connects to it. The only thing I can think of is it is for a jumper connector to another drive if you have one which I do not. Am I on the right track here or is it something different ?

If I buy an external hard drive, can I just plug it into this laptop and carry on downloading music forever more? Or is it not as simple as that? 500 gigabyte ones seem to be only about 125 quid. I could get a lot more stuff on there. Might even listen to it one day. Is it straightforward?

I am putting an old tower back together, and I cant get the monitor to come on. Its not the monitor, cause I tested both a Dell, and a Sony Flatscreen that both work on other computers. I dont have the original monitor anymore, but it worked just fine on this computer. The only thing besides the monitor thats different is the hard drive. It had windows ME before, and this HD has 98, but the HD does work. I tested two seperate video adapters also, one of which I know works. The motherboard works, and the fan and LED comes on like normal. The Dell monitor kicks into standby (or whatever the yellow light means) after about five seconds. The sony just stays on, and says No input. any ideas?

can you help when i turn on monitor it only stays on for 10 mins or so, cables are correctly inserted, sometimes stays on for 1 hour then switches off but sound still there but no picture green light stays on

I have setup an Epson D68 printer on a client PC that is being shared out on the network to one other user. Firstly the user that connects to it couldn't print yesterday so i disabled bi-directional printing which solved this but now the person who had the printer connected to their pc is having problems, its taking about 4 minutes to spool and print off 1 page, any ideas?

I am thinking about upgrading the memory on my Compaq Presario R3000 model and looking to get 1-2 1 GB RAM chips. So far I have only been looking for Kingston ones because the manufacturer recommends it. I found a compatible chip made by Smart Modular Technologies on the PCConnection.com website which offers both for half the price? What am I losing out here? Is there something I am overlooking? The Kingston chip I am considering is "1GB DDR333 Module KTH-ZD7000/1G" and the other one is "1GB PC2700 333MHz 200-pin DDR SDRAM SODIMM for Select HP Compaq Notebooks and Tablet PCs" Help please!

Emachines is cheap, but I'm a bit weary about it.
Does anyone have any recommendations in terms of PC brands (and is there really much difference)?
(I use my comp for internet, photos, music, some radio and some graphics/ would like to add movies)
