I have setup an Epson D68 printer on a client PC that is being shared out on the network to one other user. Firstly the user that connects to it couldn't print yesterday so i disabled bi-directional printing which solved this but now the person who had the printer connected to their pc is having problems, its taking about 4 minutes to spool and print off 1 page, any ideas?

Cheers

First, try turning your printer's bi-directional feature off. This is usually accomplished with a special software program provided by the manufacturer, a Windows driver or within one of the printer's on-board menus. You should refer to your printers user guide for more information.

If the above doesn't solve the problem for you, or need a different solution, your second option is to try either a small print server device or the Linksys Bi-Directional 2-to-1 AutoSwitch. Both of these devices support bi-tronics and bi-directional communication, thereby allowing you to share your printer. The Linksys device will even allow you to share files between computers as well. Although the Linksys unit is currently in its development stages, we expect to have them shortly

Also check the capacity of your printer pool directory

Have you rebooted the client PC recently? That might help. Also, make sure it's a PCL printer driver. Postscript printers can take quite a while to spool jobs.

I don't use Windows but perhaps you could check whether there is a conflict between the printer drivers on the different PCs. Is the printer server PC sending raw data or formatted data?

Delete the printers and attempt including them again. On pcs that the printer isn't connected to, upload the printer as an area printer, and then decide on customary tcp/ip port. Then enter the IP of the computer sharing the printer. desire this helps.

None of that makes any real sense. Sounds like you'll just have to play with it. The USB 1.1 technology. while it shouldn't, could have something to do with the problem????
