can you help when i turn on monitor it only stays on for 10 mins or so, cables are correctly inserted, sometimes stays on for 1 hour then switches off but sound still there but no picture green light stays on

The post above about power management is a good start, in fact being honest it's the only real option you have. If that doesn't solve the problem there is a part within the monitor called the inverter. If this fails usually you will find the screen will just die. You can buy these, but getting the correct one isn't all that easy, and if the monitor is under warranty then take it back and demand a replacement. If it's out of warranty, you're kinda screwed. This could be power management on the pc telling the monitor to turn off....
Look for power management in the control panel and see if it says to turn the monitor off...
