I have 2 on my PC and they both stopped working at the same time although I use one far more than the other. Any ideas? Thanks

The drives can be fixed but it could be some problems with the PC (Windows), such as software driver failure, that caused them to stop working and not actual hardware failure.

You could try uninstalling and re-installing them to check. Or better still, install them on another PC to see if they work.

If it is hardware failure, it might be better (and cheaper) to buy new ones (that are faster) rather than to repair them.

Stopped working? That's pretty loose term.

Are they making a noise? Do they give an error? Do they refuse to read? Do they refuse to open? Are your certificates valid? What was the last disk/file that you've used on each?
Is it region related? Refusing to burn? Won't play DVD? Won't play music CD? Stuck? Are the cables secure in the back? What does it show in CMOS/BIOS?

I'd love to say 'They're dirt cheap, just get a new one for the one you use' But if the problem is in your setup you may very well be wasting your cash.

They on the same bus? If so, try each of them alone... and try them on another bus to see if either work elsewhere.

It may be your IDE controller has failed, it maybe 1 drive has caused a fault that stops them both working.

It may be a cable has dropped off its connector.

take them to an expert and get his opinion.
sometimes you may just be better off getting new ones considering how much some people charge. get a estimate quote for the repairs before deiciding
