Because PCIe is still new, there are not as many Graphics cards on the market for this standard. But, that will change in this and next year.

Some Mobo's have both AGP and PCIe, and this does not change the price of the MoBo by much.

The best thing to do is to go "Window Shopping" to find the best deals. You can go to sites such as:

http://www.pricewatch.com
http://www.cnet.com
http://tigerdirect.com

And a slew of other sites that will help you comparison shop.

AGP is going away quickly and even entry level PCIe video cards trounce quite a few of the AGP cards out there. Unless the system is really nice I wouldn't bother putting more money into a AGP card.

"window shopping" and finding deals is the first common mistake people do. mostly.. when u think its a good deal.. its not.. as no one needs this part anymore.. on your question.. agp is a very old port. as i don't know your budget its very hard for me to build you a good setup, but. upgrading a agp computer to pci computer is not that simple as just building a new computer. furthermore, the parts from your old computer are prob. going to block ur new pci-e slot : ) if you have more questions.. email me.. u can find my email at my profile

If you're going to go AGP...go with an AGP 8x nVidia-based card.
Most of today's new motherboards do not offer AGP slots, so you would have to go PCI Express 16x.
I bought an MSI nVidia based 128mb PCIe 16x card and it works awesome...$38.00 at Newegg.com.

First we need to know what is your current set up. That way maybe we can just upgrade some item and keep cost down.
Why do you need to upgrade card?
Because a med level card is going to cost around $200 alone. Give us your plan budget so you can get help more.
