after shuting down message comes up stating-

Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:
\system32\ntoskrnl.exe.
please re-install a copy of the above file.

what can i do help........its a dell latitude 400 1999 THANKS CURT

Your just missing a bootup file.Put your os disk in and run the recovery console.Type help to find the proper command.

If Windows won't start, you are unable to access anything unless you happen to have made a boot disk when you got your PC.

If you have a boot disk, you may be able to at least get files you want and cut/copy/paste to a CD, flashdrive, or external hard drive. Then, I see no other option than to uninstall and reinstall Windows.

try replacing the keyboard first then read this website.
