if its a PC check your properties "right click on your backround" if its a laptop the properties should be in the bottom right hand corner

How often and when does it happens...

Check your power settings. Right click on the desktop, select properties. Click on the screensaver tab then click on the power button at the bottom. Check to see if your system is set to go into standby mode automatically.

u mean after u leave it running walkaway and come back it is standing by and you have to re-login to windows?? if so heres how to fix it :
right click on your desktop
go to screensaver
go down to the button that says " power " click it
go to the one that says hibernate, choose never
also
go to the one that says standyby, choose never
then click apply, then click ok, and your all set !!! hope this helps you

Start,control panel,performance and maintenance,power option's.Power schemes, The three setting's in settings for presentation power scheme,set all to never.Hibernate tab,uncheck enable hibernation. Apply,ok. on both tab's.

Go into your control panel (start>settings>control panel).
Click on "Power Options"
In the first window (Power Schemes), see if the box next to 'System Standby' says "Never" or says "After X minutes/hours".
Set it to "Never"
