Hardware - February 2007

When I am on one webpage if I hover over another link a lot of the time I don't even have to click to be taken to the new webpage. It is annoying. How can I fix it? I have checked the mouse properties.

I have a Dell computer and it is currently running Windows XP. I ran a program called Tune-up System Optimizer and it says that I have a 64 bit processor but my computer is only using 32 of the available 64 bits. I want to check this out for myself...I have looked under everything I can think of in the control panel but I have not been able to locate any information that says anything about 64 or even 32 bits.

okay here's the deal.. i need help buying a graphic card - and fast!
i have the following ones in mind:
GeForce 6600 GT
6800 GT
7600 GS
7600 GT
6300 GT

oh and i need 256 MB cards with AGP interface.

what's the difference between 'em all, which one's the best buy and which one do u suggest i buy? also refer to the version of directX they support...
please help me out quick!!!!!!!

I don't know what's wrong with my laptop, I removed all my mp3 files to an external hard disk n'after that, the whole system stopped making any kind of sound. Nothing works!! :(
I tried the troubleshooting thingy but it didn't help at all & nothing changed . :|
I was thinking that "maybe" if I format, the missing thingy in the sound driver will be fixed. am I right? & How can I format a pc by myself???

P.s, when I opened the device manager, I found a yellow (!) on my multimedia audio controller, it said it's not sharing any files coz it's not working properly .. is that the reason? & how can I fix it?

My keyboard was set up to American settings when I bought it. I have changed the settings, but pressing shift and 3 doesn't bring up the £ sign. Where is it on an American keyboard? (I'm typing this on a different computer, in case you were wondering!!)

My keyboard for my pc has moved the @ sign to the " sign 1

hello, this is my 1st time buying laptop. so i want to avoid buying unreliable brands or models. could anyone point me in the right direction of what i should avoid.
i will be getting one purely for gaming and internet, so WIFI and 1GB RAM is essential. a decent HD size 60GB+ wih celeron processor.
looking to spend between £400 - £600 tops
this is a lot of money for me hence the request for advise.
look forward to hearing some answers.

Is it possible to delete old files permanently so that no one can recover or access them? I am thinking of getting a new computer, but don't want people having access to personal information. I thought about deleting sensitive files, then defraging the harddrive, and copying over the hard drive with mpegs which occupy a lot of space, deleting these files again, and then doing another defrag, by doing these steps, well I complete remove the sensitive files so no one can access them?

I have an ATi Radeon x700 SE in my 1.5 year old computer at present and am buying a newer machine in a few weeks, which has a nVidea Geforce 6100 (Nforce 405). Is this a better card (with it being a newer machine) or not? I want to play games such as FEAR and Half Life 2 for example. Thanks
