Honestly U can just pop the VISTA DVD in and install the new operating sys. with no hazzle's. As regarding to u r system, if u do not meet the out of the world requirements like 2Gb ram and 128Mb Video memory, u r OS will configure to the best available settings and run smoothly.

You will need to buy the full version of Vista and not the upgrade to be able to do the install without first getting XP working. Make sure your PC more than meets the min. requirements of VISTA. If it is an older PC VIsta Basic is what you will need.

Yes you should be able to do that if you system meets the requirements of Vista.
I don't know if Vista comes on one DVD or multiple Cd's, personally I would let Vista get the bugs out somewhat before using it.

Vista is just as flakey as win media edition. You could download Bit torrent and then download win xp pro sp2 and use your coa.I have done it and it works. You can then get a new theme and have just as much eye candy but without the problems.

well the first thing i would make sure of is that its your operating system that isn't functioning properly. if its your hard drive or motherboard, there's no use in trying to put a new OS on there.
Unfortunatly, i dont know of any specific checks for what is actually wrong with your computer. i know a good site called pcguide.com, they have forums and stuff that may help you out.

yes... your hard must be greater than 40 GB. And your RAM should be more or equal to 512 MB. Vista Home edition can run on 512MB RAM while Ultimate edition can run on 1 GB ram. You must have a formatted partition with space greater than 20GB.
