I wouldn't go nuts over which one to buy.
The technology behind them has pretty much peaked, & for home use any LG, Liteon, Samsung or HP unit will give you years of reliable performance.
You shouldn't have to spend more than $50 on an internal CD/DVD RW.
Here are some LG models to choose from :

just double checkin that you know that you need a DVD R to burn dvds, i have a sony and a memorex in my PC, and i would suggest the sony, because theyre known for better computer parts, and it seems to work a bit more efficiently more often than the memorex (theyre both the same speed 16x for dvd and 48x for cds)

Sony is a very good, low priced drive. Also HP makes the Lightscribe burner. You need special disks to use that feature but you can burn the disk and then flip it over and burn a disk label utilizing the same burner, and they aren't too expensive now-a-days.

light scribe is one of the best ive found, but any computer activity other than burning creates skips on dvd.
You could have the best dvd rom in the world, but if your computer isn't fast enough or you have a poor quality graphics card, it won't work efficiently.
