I dont think it is the hard drive. There is something in the bios that is wrong.

What does it say " something " press f1. Post that and i will tell you how to fix it

It's might not be a hard drive problem.. The hard drive parameters are stored in the system bios. It sounds like either the system bios has an error in it (a bit of code that didn't get written properly) or the cmos battery on the motherboard isn't providing enough charge to keep the bios information set between startups. Since your computer is fairly new an probably under warranty I would contact tech support and have them look at it.

If you are no longer under warranty you might try updating the system bios to a more stable version to see if it fixes your problem Here's a link that might help you.. http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&product=95516&rule=43686&lang=en&docname=c00026926

If you have added new memory or have attached an external device your problem may be related to them.

read what it says before you have to press F1 there is a chance that the disk drive is not functioning properly. also getting a new hard disk (i am thinking that you are talking about a hard drive) isn't going to fix anything ... your hard drive is just a storage device. if your so worried about it just take it to a comp. store i am sure for $40 or so they can fix it. if not hitting F1 just may be a mild inconvience.

Easy on the caps, but I'm confused why you need a new hard drive, are you having trouble with the one installed. You can get a internal laptop hard disk for about $60.

latop hard disks are generally more expensive than regular hard disks because they are smaller. If your laptop is still under warranty you should not replace the hard disk under any circumstances as that would void your warranty.

Your problem seems to be something to do with the bios. I would suggest that you send the computer to the manufacturer for repair.

its not important to change hard drives unless you want an upgrade, ur problem is most probably caused by software issues. new hard drives range from 50-200 depending on speed and capacity
