Would wrapping the antenna of my wireless router in aluminum foil choke back the range of transmission? How else can I limit the range without software tweaks or password changing? Think low tech, please. If it only transmitted 50 feet, that would be fine with me. (Trying to inhibit my neighbors' son from using my ISP and IP address. Yes, I know more sophisticated ways exist.) Thanks!

There's something strange about my cable connection (Shaw Cable), or i think it has something to do with my cable.
This had been going on for over three months at least. It doesn't matter which web browser i use (firefox, opera, IE etc) Sometimes my connection will just get "stuck" on any site at anytime. When i mean stuck, i mean nothing is going on. Even google gets "stucked". The connection icon at the bottom right corner said cable is connected, but when i tried to load a new page, it wouldn't flash blue at all. To summarize my first problem: at any random time when i surf on the internet, pages just wouldn't load up.

My second problem is that my connection gets disconnected from time to time. It'd happen at least once within an hour or so. It would just get disconnected, and comes back in a few seconds.
However, i don't seem to getting this problem when playing online games.

Any cause of this problem, and possibly a solution?

I had my secured connection up and running with no problems a couple days ago. Then we moved everything to our new house and when I set up the connection, my laptop said my wireless connection to my router is excellent, my desktop said the LAN connection is good to go but I can't access the Internet. Looked like a DNS problem.

I brought up the command prompt and did a release and renew and I secured an IP address with no problems. I also tried repair just in case. I didn't change anything on my router, such as key and password. I thought it would be a simple switchover because I switched from one cable provider to another one. What am I missing ? Thanks in advance for your answers.

I am on wireless internet (on my laptop) and am having trouble with my network connection. I am able to connect to my network provider, but unable to access internet. I keep getting a system error message saying "IP Address conflict with another system on the network." I tried changing the IP of my system, but it is of no use. I don't get the message then, but I cannot connect to the internet. Can someone help me out with this problem. It is a bit urgent. I am on my friend's laptop now.
Please help.

How would I make it so that I can have two computers using satellite internet service, but only paying one bill? I am thinking a wireless router will take care of this but wanted to ask for any recommendations. This will be my first time going with the satellite internet through Direct TV's Earthlink offer.

we're a four - roomate, four computer household and our computers are connected to a D-Link DI-604 4 port Router on a comcast broadand connection. we're all experience slow connection problems - webpages are loading slowly, sometimes at less than a dialup rate. we've screened our computers regularly for viruses and trojans and there are none. disconnecting *any* two computers from the router restores the speed (it doesnt matter which two computers are discoonected from the router) does this indicate a specific problem that we can solve, or do we need to get some type of higher performance router? (if such a thing exists).

well, my father bought a new wireless router, but the problem is, that we are needing another ethernet cable, yup ANOTHER. We went to many shops and the don't have it.
My question is, can we use the USB to conect the modem to our computer and then and the ethernet cable to the modem so we can connect also with the router?

We are needing the cable to conect like this Internet modem --- Wireless router --- Computer, so, does that method I mentioned works?

I adjusted my always on power managment settings and I don't like what it does because of the way I changed it. I know there is a code you can enter in the command prompt to restore the defaults but I forgot it. If someone knows the code or knows another way to do it, let me know.

Explain how the manner in which the stations are allocated to the "two rings" can be used to alleviate this problem. Token ring has been established as a “fair” LAN protocol in which the stations on the ring take turns gaining network access via the passing of the token. When the token ring LANs are interconnected, via a bridge, however, the “fairness” of the protocol becomes complicated.
