Eveytime I boot my laptop I have to pull out the wireless card and reinsert it to get a connection. I've checked in device manager and it is enabled and the device drivers are loaded. Card is an air plus G from D link. It works fine once the card is reinserted. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I use a dial up to get onto the internet. The computer I am currently on connects with no problem. My other computer has a problem. When I connect with the other computer it says " The computer your dialing in to cannot establish a dial-up networking connection. Check your password, ant then try again. " This is the same user name and password that I use on this computer. I have checked the caps lock, scroll lock, and num lock.

Recently installed the latest Windows critical updates on my peer-to-peer network at work. All machines are now saying that there is a "station with a duplicate name " on the network - when I know that there isnt! One machine says that Office 2003 is not a genuine copy - when it is.
Are these faults co-incidental or something to do with Windows update?

I am trying to set up a few hot spots and am trying to figure how much gain I need. What is the difference between 8dBi, 12dBi and 15 dBi and which is better?

I am trying to cover two or three city blocks with low trees coverage. The antenna will be on a roof and will have a clear line of sight. I want to use omni directionals and want to examine the type of coverage areas I can get.

Also I will be using a wireless-g router.

Thanks

I just got a Toshiba M115-S1061 laptop and am trying to hook it up to the internet via my existing cable internet connection. I have a desktop pc that is currently hooked up to this connection. The people at Best Buy told me to get a Linksys EtherFast 5-Port 10/100 Workgroup Switch which I did. I hooked the line from the cable modem to that, then ran 1 ethernet cable to the desktop, then another to the laptop. The desktop connects to the internet but the laptop doesnt. What do I need to to? Help!!!

I work for a internet streaming company, we are in the mist of upgrading and I need to do something with the current equipment (firewalls, servers, storage libraries, printers ETC...) we have back here, I am currently doing the E-bay thing but its not fast enuff.
(Has anyone been in this situation before)

If there is a company that can come down to my building, see what they could use and take it off my hands at that moment,
that would be spectacular.

Any Leads
Any Ideas
Would be greatly appreciated

Thank you

no good answers for question http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20061218015429AAveRA1

Reposting question:

I need a software which only needs to be installed on my computer and which allows you to control client computers. The software should be able ( !!! CRITICAL FEATURE !!! ) to build its client application (exe file that you send to the client) which should include my ip address, the port number that my server is configured to listen to, eventually user and password.

applications should be like Remote Support System 1.7.1

freeware software is a best choice

please do not answer if you want to recommend me TeamViever (www.teamviewer.com), Remote Support System (http://www.remotesupportsystem.com), VNC's that require customer-side server installation / deployment / unzipping / configuration, applications which require a internet browser, applications which use online services.

thank you

best answer will be rewarded with 10p + free remote service when time allows me.

I am trying to figure out what is the best type of omni directional antenna for outdoor wi-fi use.

I am gonna be making a hot spot and want to know the best type of omni that will give me the best range and throughput.

I will be using a either a wireless-b or g router for the access point. I know g gives the best possible speed but does the range compare to wireless b at the longer ranges?

Please give as much knowledge as possible.

Thanks
