Tell me why there are people out there willing to invest their time "digging" interesting news for Digg.com???
There's no known form of reward and they (the users) are not the shareholders. So why the dedication?

I am using my acer ferrari 4500 serries laptop with its built in wireless conected to my roomates router. I have a built in nic card as well and want to connect that to my desktop machine's nic card and connect to the internet through the laptop's wireless running now. Is this possible with just the right configurations or would i need a patch cable as well? Maybe I would have to have this laptop running server software? Just curious probably a dumb question haha??

I have a beetel adsl modem and a Dlink router. All other sites open up fine, except hotmail and Yahoo mail. I have the problem on both my laptops. If I directly connect the laptop to the modem through the beetel modem then I can access hotmail and yahoo. The airtel technician tells me it is a problem with my router, but my uncle has the same problem with his airtel connection too. Any help? It seems like a configuration problem to me, but I'm not a computer expert. Thanks!

I want to hook up only two computers to play a LAN game. Do I need to buy an Ethernet switch or hub, or can I just connect the two computers with one CAT5 cable?

I just setup a shared printer with my laptop and desktop, but the desktop only prints when my laptop(the main pc connected to the printer) is connected. Is there any way for this to be changed? I don't want my laptop to have to be connected to the printer for the other pc to print!

I have it for a decent sized network although it was never setup 'right'. Most of it is intuitive enough, but I'd like to know the 'best' way to set it up. It has found some devices in the network automatically, but most are not added. Since I have no training on this, I'd like to read up on 'recommended' solutions or a step by step setup (with explanations).

Also, there are mentions of a syslog daemon...is there a way to view the syslog messages? I've set my routers and switches to send to the cworks server, but can't seem to find a way to view or analyze the messages.

What are the cheapest options for putting the PC in the bedroom without drilling and routing cables. What i really want is a device at my existing bt socket which transmits to a device installed in my pc. It will only be about 5-8 meters away. I'm just not aware of the terminology and devices that are available!

I'm on talktalk 8mb broadband with an ethernet modem at the moment.

Please help...

I have my own wireless router and I leave it open. I do not understand what the problem other people have with locking their router. I mean, I know they pay for the connection but you should share. I had to get my own wireless router because my neighbor locked his. I went over his house to ask him the network key and he yelled at me for taking his bandwidth. I think people should share their connection with other people. If a hacker really wanted to get into your system, they could do it, locked or not.

On the backside of my linksys wireless router there are 4 slots to plug in network cables. Can I connect a PC by plugging a cable into the wireless router? (and create a wired network instead of wireless) The wireless signal my PC picks up doesn't seem to be constant.
