I have my laptop connected to a wireless network. Last night when i turned my laptop on it couldnt find a wireless network available. This morning it connected just fine. What could have caused it to not connect? Didnt matter last night how close i got to the router still couldnt connect. I did try refreshing the networks List but never helped.

Right, this question has probably been asked but I did not see a specific solution already listed. I have a main pc that works directly off the router, and a second pc that runs wirelessly via a belkin usb network adapter.

I now want to add my laptop to the network wirelessly using a pci card. I have tried to connect two machines wirelessly before but have found that this knocks the wireless connection out completely.

During my troubles, I have bought and tried three different pci cards including a 3com, Linksys and Sweex laptop network cards (still have these) Is there anything I can do to overcome this problem or is it a lost cause.

I connected a Linksys WRT54GS wireless router to a Netgear dsl modem and connected to my laptop without a problem (without encryption).

Then I took the Linksys and my laptop to another location and connected to a Motorola dsl modem. The laptop was able to locate the wireless router in the list of wireless networks available, but could not connect to it, WHY?

Both times open connection was used (no encryption) and both modems were connected to internet provided as verified by a wired ethernet connection.

Any solution please?

Hello all, I am trying to share my internet connection but i keep getting the same error - Error 123 the filename, Directory name or volume label syntax is incorrect. This happens everytime i goto network connections right click my connection, properties, advanced tab then ticking the box Allow other network users to use this connection. I have also noticed that in services the windows firewall/internet connection sharing (ICS) service is not started and when i select the option to start the service i get the same error!

Thanks for any help people can offer!

By the concept of a Thin Client`ed network, if the thin client does support the comunication protocol and have the minimum hardware (and bandwitch) necessary for processing it, supose, 16mb of ram, and 100 MHz processor, what does it matter if it has 64 ram/250Mhz, or 128 ram, 500MHz... ?

I've read about the minimum requirements of thin clients and they are low, but I still see mostly of them with many hardware configuration, and "much" more memory and processor that the number given as 'minimum'.

Does this affects its performance? (I'm not talking about boot-time, but regular use of the station).

What I have is: DSL coming into the house at one end. This goes into an ADSL modem, then into an ethernet hub and then is sent out via cat5 cable to two computers. One computer is in the same room as the modem and hub. The other computer is 3 rooms away connected via the cat5 cable.
From time to time I like to use my laptop in the other room, but do not need nor want the wireless conection, so I unplug my desktop and plug the laptop in.
QUESTION: can I split the connection in the other room to use the laptop and desktop at the same time? I have only one rj45 plug in the room. Is there like a 'Y' splitter that would. I understand the speed might be split.
I was thinking I could use another hub, but that does not work.
Any help or idea's. I do not want to have to pull another cat5 cable.
Thanks
MD

I have just one RJ45 jack. I need to run an Ethernet and Phone connection thru this. Is there a multiplexer or other device that can let these coexist in 1 channel and then split it on the outside ?
