I am taking my laptop overseas, and the place I am staying has wi-fi wireless. I was told by someone I don't need to open up the laptop, just buy a device which plugs into laptop. Can some of you super-geeks answer? Name of the device and model would be appreciated.

At home I have a modem/router which has four LAN outputs on the back. Each one of these goes to a computer except number 4 which goes to a wireless router.

On the computer with wireless, why can't I locate any other computer on the network. I used to be able to but can't now. Any ideas?

P.S. Don't think it is a firewall issue.

and got a router to connect wireless my daughter's laptop, but sometimes the connection dropped and clicking the repair button usually fixed the problem, but this last time I tried to do it with the wizard following the instructions of connecting the internet cable directly to the laptop, but I didn't finished with the wizard and after that my pc looked like it had wireless connection, but with little or no connectivity, and I tried to fix the problem disconnecting and reconnecting the wires to no good. Today I turned on my pc and the only thing I see is a "Non-system disk or disk error. Replace and press any key when ready" sign. What is wrong with it???? plain language please

I want to know how the D-Link RangeBooster N Wireless-N Router works. I have a D-Link AirPlus Xtreme G DWL-G132. And I know how to set up a wireless internet connection but it says that I need to plug it into a wireless access point. There is a hot spot in my area but it's about 300ft. away. So please tell me if the D-Link RangeBooster N Wireless-N Router will let me have that wireless internet connection from about 300ft. away.

Need a bit of help setting up a drag and drop system between a sony viao and a mac G4 powerbook. I have a 10 Metre crossover ethernet cable and ideally want to set up a system where I can drag and drop audio files from the PC directly onto the Mac. At the moment I am having to use a usb stick to do this and would love to set up networking so that it becomes quicker. Can anybody how there help?

Ok I just bought and installed a Network Everywhere wired network card. I installed it in a computer running Windows XP. I have a new computer running Windows Vista Premium 64 bit.. The new computer came with an ethernet port pre-installed. When I run the computers together on an ethernet cord, both computers tell me there is a connection, but little or no connectivity and I cant share any files or network games (which was the original intent of networking my computers). Does anyone know how I can get the LAN to work properly so I can share files and games? The Windows website offers some help, but it mostly goes over my head. Please help.

I live in a big house with five other guys and we have one router and we're networked. Do we have to be networked to get on-line? We are all on wireless. If not, what can the administrator see? Only when I get on-line, or anytime I'm on the computer? Also, is there any software that blocks the administrator out? I don't have to worry about pissing him off, he's just a roommate. Thanks in advance for all your help.

I have a work shed about 500 feet from my home. I'm trying to extend the wireless coverage from my home to the work shed without purchasing another account from our cable internet provider. I'm running a Linksys wireless router from the house and only about 10% of the time will my computer find a wireless connection in the work shed. How might I extend the range? The wireless router is at the closest point in the house to the work shed, so I can't move it any further or it'd be outside.
