Is it bad to leave a computer on or a cable modem on during a thunderstorm? My old printer once got zapped during one so I was wondering if the same would apply to other computer devices. Thanks.

I have vonage with a cable modem. I recently purchased a wifi phone which uses the same line as my fax, but regardless of whether the phone is on, standby or off. I get the same message. Everything worked fine with the same config until I substituted the cordless phone with the wifi phone. It shows the fax/modem is on port 7 and it passed the windows test.

I only have one connection, in fact none really as it's only the ethernet card that shows up in network connections. I've tried stopping the netware service, disabling it, but it still refuses to let me uninstall. It doesn't show up anywhere in any properties. I'm logged in as administrator, there are no other accounts.
Where does it hide?????
The laptop isn't currently connected to the net, either by ethernet or modem. It was set up with Netware before I had it.
