WEP (Wired Equivalent Privacy) is a security protocol for wireless local area networks. This is a hexadecimal or HEX (0-9 and A-F). Find out what it is through your system administrator at work.

A WEP key is a series of numbers and letters generated by your wireless router. Ask your admin or whoever handles your internet service for the WEP key numbers plus the wep key position the router is using (ie wep key1, wep key2, etc.) and the router SSID as well. SSID is the ID name that your company router uses. After you gather all these info you then need to input them to your wireless modem or wifi software so that your laptop and your company router can communicate and allow you to access the internet. WEP key is use so as not anybody can piggy back ride your company's internet access.

Basially, WEP is a form of wireless security. It comes in 64kb, and 128kb encryption on most newer routers. Basically, WEP is set by your wireless router, you should go to your routers wireless configuration page, by typing in your IP address into your address bar in IE. Then you can mess around with the router page until you find the place where you can enable, disable or configure your WEP security.

You wont be able to access your wireless router's configuration page from your computer that cant connect, you need to find the computer that is directly connected to it, or another computer that is configured to access the network

The WEP key is simply the password on a wireless router. To obtain this key, you'll have to talk to you network administrator.
