Is it bad to leave a computer on or a cable modem on during a thunderstorm? My old printer once got zapped during one so I was wondering if the same would apply to other computer devices. Thanks.

Sure things can get fried,
speaking of storms, its really making noise outside right now.

I would recommend using a nice surge protection for your valuable electronics. Monster makes a good one, as well as other companies.

If you want to be really secure, get one that will protect your cable line/phone line as well as your power.

You may even want to run your computer with a UPS to prevent brown/black out.
