the cheapest way to network them (if they are relatively close) is to wire or buy a crossover cable and connect between the two Ethernet ports with it.

An ethernet cross-over cable will link ethernet ports (and if you need those, don't pay more than a fiver per card)

Set the IP addresses so PC 1 is 10.0.0.101 and PC 2 is 10.0.0.102 (or similar choices)

If you only buy a cable, you might spend about 7 quid (inc postage).

Check a local PC shop to see if they will match the price (as they know you can save if you can wait a few days for delivery)

How far apart will these pc's be? If the are going to be right next to each other just get a 4 port router that way you can share the internet connection. If they are going to be in different rooms then I'd look at going wireless and get a 4 port wireless router. That way you avoid the hasstle of running cat 5 cable. Here a few links for you, the secure easy setup feature of this product is really nice too..

The new push button setup feature makes it easy to configure your wireless devices. Just push the button on the router and on your other SecureEasySetup-enabled wireless device to automatically create an encryption-secured wireless connection. Wi-Fi Protected Access™ (WPA) protects your data and privacy with up to 128-bit industrial-strength encryption and 802.1x authentication and authorization.

The cheapest way is a HUB, and 2 network cards.
The next cheapest way is a SWITCH and 2 network cards

And.. the best way is a Router! DLink, Linksys are typical. Don't get stuck on which one is better. They are all consumer electronics and there isn't much difference between them. Get the one that is on sale!

hi the easy answer is a bypass-over cable between the two. yet while we've them related to the internet then between the previous solutions is what you do as the two are related by way of using a swap/hub or router to a minimum of one yet another with rapidly cables.

Use a router. That will make a lan for your 2 pc's and they can communicate with each other that way.
