The existing wired router is physically attached to 4 computers. Is replacing it with a wireless router a simple process, such as... 1. Disconnect the wires from the wired router, 2. Reconnect the same wires to the wireless router (to maintain the existing and formally wired network infrasture) and, 3. Activate, configure the secure wireless router by inserting a CD and following a clear set of instructions? I'm not technically inclined by any stretch and want to avoid comprimising the existing network for a long period of time.

I've got a rather in-depth request for anyone who has jumped through all the hoops.

What do we need to make and receive calls to/from VoIP & PSTN phones worldwide, and what would the cost be?

We intend to use our existing Cisco 7940 / 7960 IP phones.

What specs should the server have for good call quality? we will have 5 offices with 8 users (perhaps 4 concurrent), and 1 with 20 users (perhaps 10 concurrent).

With the server located in one site and all our IP phones/stations located throughout the United States, what kind of internet will be needed at both the server and IP phone ends? (asymmetric/symemetric? need packet prioritization via the switch to ensure voice call quality? will cable internet be ok?)

Do we need to pay a service to convert our IP calls to/from the regular PSTN network? what about long-distance PSTN?

What support, installation, troubleshooting, fixing solutions does Digium offer and how much does it run? We need to ensure that we won't lose service.

lets say I purchased a Ip iddress of 192.168.12.1 (I know I cant, But just go with it) If I had 10 departments (example marketing, Sales etc) that needed their own network with 20 hosts in each department, If they all wanted their own network within this network, what Ip address could I give them with what subnet masks that would work for this?
I know that it is impossible to subnet this kind of class c network, but what kind of ip address would i use on this?

We are shortly getting broadband and I want to find out if my computer has wireless capabilities before I buy a usb wireless adaptor. I will be using the computer upstairs, away from the main connection. I have tried going on Control Panel to find out but all I can see is the wireless networking set-up wizard, and not sure if this is it.
Thanks!

I want to expand my home network to include a laptop, laser printer and XBox 360. I'm having trouble making a decision between the following options: A) Attach a wireless router to the existing wired router or B) replace the existing wired router with a wireless router.

Im taking a few networking courses and I enjoy the work, but often times classes dont reflect the real world. So was just wondering what a typical day/week is like as a Network admin, assistant or just part of the networking group?
