Im taking a few networking courses and I enjoy the work, but often times classes dont reflect the real world. So was just wondering what a typical day/week is like as a Network admin, assistant or just part of the networking group?

Depends on the size of the organization and the your role. Network Administrator is not really a specific description of a job. Here is my answer anyway: I work as an Information Security Administrator at a worldwide financial organization. The team I work in counts about 140 persons at the moment. We manage the accesses/passwords of the organization's employees in about 200 financial systems. We get numerous requests from our colleagues daily, asking to reset their passwords, give them specific privileges, etc. I have a few colleagues who I regularly go for lunch or even to have a beer after work. Basically this is all I can tell you about myself. The bottom line is that a lot depends on your job description (e.g. your responsibilities) and the relationship with colleagues you work with.

You really have to like this job to do it. As the admin it's you who always has to run if there's any problem. It's also you who has to install all these new programs. You have to have to do all that stuff about the user accounts. And so on...
Fact is: It's quite a lot of work to do and quite a lot of coffee and (diet) coke to drink. But if you like it, it's a good job.

I'd like to do it.
