I recently cancelled my cable TV but kept my cable internet. I was just curious and ran the cable going to the modem straight to a TV to see if it had a signal. I didn't get anything but I've heard of people splitting their cable and getting a signal on both a TV and their modem. What all do I need to do?

I am trying to get a wireless connection for my Nintendo Wii, and I did but the connection is locked and I need to put in a WEP password. I looked up the router and there was a user guide on Adobe Reader, and it says you should always change your WEP password, but it doesn't tell you how to change it. I looked everywhere in the settings and all of that crap, and I can't seem to find anything.

I have a network with DHCP from a Cisco Router(192.168.1.1) and have a wireless router attached to it(192.168.1.254). Recently while trying to install a network printer on a laptop I realized the laptop was on the wireless network which was on its own network(192.168.2.1) (the wireless router had DHCP enabled so it was creating another node in the network)

So...how can make the wireless router just add computers to my original subnet(192.168.1.1)? I thought disabling DHCP would accomplish this but my linksys router has 'Enable DCHP' and it also has 'Internal router address'. I think this is contradictory because if the DCHP is off, then there should not be an internal address and it causes errors when I make the two in the same subnet and try Auto Configure Network Settings on my computer.

Today my cable man told me that my cable modem and my wireless router should not be placed within close proximity of one another because they "broadcast at the same frequency."

I told him that the modem doesn't broadcast anything as it receives its signal from a land line. He still claims that they interfere with one another. I say they do not interfere with one another.

Who is right? Thanks for your help.

Hi, I have just purchased a Netgear RangeMax Next Wireless Router (WNR834M) and I'm having trouble setting it up. The first time I set it up, I tried a static ip and everything went through smoothly on the Wizard Assistant. However, I couldn't get access to the Internet. So I unplugged everything and put the Ethernet cable back into the modem. Internet came back. So I try and re-install it and when it comes to the step "Restarting Your Network", it keeps on saying "No Connection Found". I double-check all my wires and everything seems okay. This alert has come up everytime after the intial installation. This is where I need help. What should I do? Will clicking the "Restore Factory Default" button on the back of the router help? Should I just manually plug the wires in without the Wizard?

Thanks for the help!

I'm currently using a D-Link DI-624 wireless router. I thought that, by default, either computer would be able to see the other in "My Network Connections" or somewhere like that. Currently, neither computer can see the other at all. Curiously, they can both access my wireless network-enabled TIVO Series 2 box.

I'm sure there's a simple answer for this. Any takers?

P.S. By the way, my ethernet wired PC runs Windows Vista and my laptop runs Windows XP SP2 ...
