I have a wifi home network set up. two of the PCs (5 total) are getting poor reception. They are only 20 ft away from the router, but there is alot of interference from walls and such. the line of site for these gys are probably like 3-4 walls. I pull the router into a more direct line of site with the pcs and the two pcs to test it and the reults were better, but it is not a place I can normlly leave it. I am using a linksys 54G rev6 with high gain antennas

I have thought of two solutions. buy extention cables for the adapter antennas (10') and move the antenna to the doors frams of the rooms. This would bring the antenna closer to the router, but I am think I will lose any gain in signal with the distance in the cable.

the second idea is to buy a little usb wifi adaper and locate the actual adapter on the door frame using a 10' usb cable.

Which would give me better results?

The linksys i have does not allow the power to be tweaked with.

There are shortcuts to pictures in My Recent Documents section & whenever I try to open it it gives me this message
"The drive or network connection that the shortcut refers to is unavailable. Make sure that the disc is properly inserted or the network resource is available, and then try again."

When I check the properties to see where it is located it says the target location is G:\ only I have no idea where this is or how to get to it.

Will someone please let me know how I can get to these pictures & what the hell a G drive actually is.

Thanks.

So, I'm wanting to go get some certificates like MS Linux Or Cisco, but I'm not sure which is the best to go for first.
Can someone help point in a direction.
I'm wanting to start off cheap, yet effective. and I want to start easy as well.
I am very competent with computers.
for example, I can write in C html, java, visual basic.
(but I don't want to program for a living)
point is I know what I'm doing and I'm not scared, only need some direction from people that have already done what I need to.

Netgear has a free limited 90 days support and customer service.. and after that you are required to pay $37.00 for any additional problem .. such as configuration etc...

After my 90 days period, I started having problems to connect my wireless computer on the internet.
I called them and they said that in order to help me with the configuration I would have to pay $ 37.00.

I asked to talk to the supervisor or the manager and this agent (who was talking to me from somewhere in India) told me that the supervisor would tell me exactly the same thing.. And that in order to be helped, I would have to pay the fee.

My concern is, It seems to me that this is an strategy created By the company to collect extra money from the customers.

I have a friend who is an engineer that came and tried to fix the problem himself and the message we received is (NETWORK WITH LIMITED ACCESS)

SO, suddenly I have a LIMITED ACCESS and no way to change this on my settings!!

In addition I have another friend that has bought netgear sometime ago and had to change to another wireless router , since after his free 90 days tech support he started having problems and had to pay additional money every time he needed help!

I would like to make sure that this company has integrity and is not taking advantage of customers.

It seems to me that it is easy for them to intentionally change the settings and generate technical problems , so the customers would have to call them and pay extra charges.

A new employee is replacing an employee who left lets say old_employee@companyx.com , The mail system is Exchange Server, what is the best practice to allow the new employee access to the old_Employee account..
1. Simply rename the old account
2. Create a new_employee@companyx.com account and forward all the emails ..(but what about the past emails)

Basically the employ an operations assistant ,needs access to the person who left emails, we're just looking for the best way.. Remeber this is Exhange Server/Outlook

I have users connected to a domain controller with active directory all logging in with one user account for easy control. Anyways, I want them to be able to right click their wireless connection and hit repair, but it is disabled and can only be done through the administrator account. Anyone know of any way to enable the users to be able to repair their own connections?
