It is a security measure to stop people who use a pirated version of the Windows OS from getting security and critical updates. If your version isn't authentic you don't get any up dates.The validation is verified by downloading the authentication program( active x) from Windows when you try to search for updates.Then they check your computer to see if your OS is valid. Nothing to do with your administrator or user password.

When you install windows you have to enter PRODUCT KEY and this product key is connected with PC machine number and he got validate only for this PC no matter about your name and password. If you try to install same version with same product key in another PC you will have to explain to the Microsoft did it is piracy version and where you are get this version. This is how Microsoft determines that you are using a legal copy of Windows. It has nothing to do with your name etc. They are capable of coming in on your computer to validate the information on it.
