How can I see if anyone is using my home network?
I live in an apartment and I want to make sure noone is using my signal to get free internet. I do have wep "security enabled" but is there anyway I could check to see if anyone is using it?

Is it safe to test this out? My modem/router only has one USB and one Ethernet port. Want to know if I have to buy another router with more Ethernet ports or whether I can get away with using this one in this manner. Any bright ideas??

ok i whant to buy a wireless router but i like the desing of netgear and i hear there the best by far but cost more than others!!! well i just got a laptop toshiba and it has satellite(wireless campatible) and what people tell me is that i have to make sure i but wireless g! but on netgear i dont see it but on one of them its called super g but others say RangeMax technology and i have no idea whats the difference can some one please tell me o and one more question um... i hear that people can steal info.. of your computers with the wireless routers or something like that how is that even possible??? or is it just a rumor>?

when i sign into mozilla firefox it says that The connection has timed out The server is taking too long to respond.....and this is what it told me to do

At my house I have a wireless network setup. I have one computer running Windows XP which is hooked up to a Linksys wireless router. On my other computer which has Windows vista use a US Robotics wireless chip to pick up internet. Whenever I am using the Vista computer I will be on the internet fine and then all of a sudden I will try loading a page and it will say something like "cannot communicate with the proxy server." What does this mean!?!

Please help me it is getting very frustrating. If someone is really good with this kind of thing and good let me email them that would be great too.

I have a Dell laptop with windows operating system and modem netcomm with router . if i am connecting ethernet cable i am able to access internet . i tried for wirless so many times but its not connecting . some times my friends come to my home and they can connect to there laptop easily with WEP key of my router.

is it possible to convert my network card to a usb-in? i know it's possible to buy something that plugs into usb on one end and has an outlet for your network cables on the other (cat-5 ?)

my problem is my usb is fried on my laptop motherboard.

I have a D-Link DI-624 Wireless router. I cant go more than 25 feet (yep, line of sight) before the signal cuts out. I am using Wireless G cards and routers from D-Link. I have the Router mounted 4? feet off the floor with no obstructions. I'm really agrivated. And when I leave my laptop sitting right next to the router, I only get 2 (out of 5) bars showing signal strength. I have gone into my wireless router settings, and I have all the settings set to maximum range.

Plz help, I'm desperate!

There is a computer in my room that I use to go online, and my dad has another in his room that he uses. It seems that he is able to tell when I'm online/whether I've been online from his computer, without even checking mine. We are connected to the same local area network.

My question is, is it possible for him to tell?

I currently have this wifi enabled laptop hard wired to my router so basically i'm using the wired network. While at the same time I have this several other PCs far away from the router but has a wifi card. I would like to know if there's any way for me to configure this laptop as my access point? I know of the wifi connection sharing (ad hoc) but it needs configuration from the host and clients too, whereas if I make my wifi laptop to act as access point, there will be no need for me to configure newly arrived PCs (clients) to share the internet as they will automatically detect the access point. There will just be one configuration which is making the host to act as access point. Any help is appreciated ;-)

I want to use Windows Remote assistance, I am in Japan and my family is in India. They are having some problem with our computer in India. They are using Windows XP, I am using a laptop having Win Xp and Win Vista. How can I start Windows Remote assistance. When I try to connect to WiFi with Mario Kart DS, I set it to search for an Access Point. When I found my 2Wire modem, It asks me for the WEP Key. I put it in and then it tests the connection and it gives me an error code "Error Code:51300"
What can I do? The WEP key is right I TRIPLE checked what can I do? THX in advance

I'm setting up a web server on a T1 line. The T1 line has a bandwidth limit of 1.544Mbit = 193K/sec. With that kind of a bottleneck, why should I bother wasting money on a SCSI drive? Even the slowest ATA drive would still bottleneck at the T1, pushing out 40-50MB/sec until it hits the T1.
