i have two pcs. my first pc can host while my second cannot. unfortunately my second pc is way better than my first so i'm looking for a way to set my second pc to become host. i have no router and im just using 2 lan card and a rj-45 cross over cable.

my first pc is a windows 98 se and the other one is running on windows xp. i dont know how to share folders on windows 98 se. how do i share folders on it?

Generally they BOTH should "Host". Have you "shared" any folders on yout second pc? Is it within the same workgroup? If they are both setup correctly you should be able to see any shared folders from either machine.

From the "first" machine do a search for the "second" machine by name and see if it shows up. Make sure on the second machine you have a shared folder and have enabled file and printer sharing. Sometimes (with Windows) they simply don't until you make them!

If its working viceversa then i would think it has to be your operating systems. (Not knowing what you have) It's easier to setup a network if you are using the same operating systems.
