Hi there wonderful world of answers,

Need a bit of help setting up a drag and drop system between a sony viao and a mac G4 powerbook. I have a 10 Metre crossover ethernet cable and ideally want to set up a system where I can drag and drop audio files from the PC directly onto the Mac. At the moment I am having to use a usb stick to do this and would love to set up networking so that it becomes quicker. Can anybody how there help?

Thanks

Urban :o)

Step By Step..
1. Get a Crossover Cable (Which you have)
2. Give both computers the IP in the same network, eg, C1=192.168.1.5/255.255.255.0 , C2=192.168.1.6/255.255.255.0
3. Check Connectivity by Ping Command, e-g, on C1, Start--->run--->ping 192.168.1.6, should get reply.

4. On Windows Computer, Create a Username Mac with Password Mac or some thing you like..

5. Share the Folder on Windows System.

6. On Mac, Click Go---> Connect to server..

7. Give IP / COmputer name of Windows COmputer..

8. Put Username / Password.

9 Mount The shared folder

Do what TheCurious has described - that should work..

But you probably need to name your Mac connection Jobs and your PC connection Gates.. then once Jobs and Gates get together you will need arbitration software to keep them from arguments with each other! :) just kidding but couldn't resist.
