Right, this question has probably been asked but I did not see a specific solution already listed. I have a main pc that works directly off the router, and a second pc that runs wirelessly via a belkin usb network adapter.

I now want to add my laptop to the network wirelessly using a pci card. I have tried to connect two machines wirelessly before but have found that this knocks the wireless connection out completely.

During my troubles, I have bought and tried three different pci cards including a 3com, Linksys and Sweex laptop network cards (still have these) Is there anything I can do to overcome this problem or is it a lost cause.

You should not have any problem connecting a laptop to your network. As a previous answer suggests, you may want to check your laptop to ensure the settings are properly configured.

Maybe you have not installed drivers for the network adapters, or maybe your laptop is old enough that the adapters are not supported, whatever.

I am pretty sure its a configuration problem.

Why not try connecting your laptop to the router with a Cat5 cable, and see if that works? If it does, then the problem is definitely in the settings of the wireless adapter.

Well A PCI card would be for a tower *Desktop* goes into the computer now i'm guessing you meant PCMIA Card the Cards that slide into the slots on the side of your Laptop... when you install the drivers that are provided when you purchase the Card...the Card should detect your network depending on your settings of your wireless network...I have had 3 computers on one wireless so i wouldn't see why you would have any problems connecting to your network. Now you might want to manage your wireless router and configure things to your best ability and make sure things are proper for it to work properly

You should be able to use up to like 256 computers off of one belkin router. If you go to the belkin web site they have a number for tech support. I used that number and didnt have to hold at all which is refreshing right? They walked me through everything and were real helpful. Good Luck!
