Are you connected to the wifi or do you just see a strong signal!

If the wifi does not have an Internet connection at the other side, all you will GET TO is the wifi!

Also, if the wifi is secured (WEP or WPA) you will see the strong signal, but NOT be able to access thru it!

Another possibility is there is a firewall or other blocker preventing your access.

Let me guess you are trying to go through a router right? The reason you have such a strong connection is because you are connected to the router but you are not connected to the internet because the router does not have that great of a connection.

It probably isn't handing out IP addresses right. Your ISP is your DHCP server, so connect with a wire to your "wifi" and configure it in "passive" mode for its DHCP. Or, you can still use your wifi's DHCP if you get into your """modem's""" configurator and change it from router mode to bridge mode.

OR--- go into the properties of your wireless card, highlight TCP/IP, click properties, and make sure "obtain an IP address automatically" is selected. It won't be if you have a static IP.

OR--- call your "wifi's" tech support 1800 number.
