I can right click the wireless icon in my taskbar and "repair" the connection and it goes back to 54 Mbps, but I don't understand why it drops like that.

I have a 7 port wired router distributing LAN ethernet connection to every room in the house. I would like to add wireless internet connection within and other areas of the house with minimal changes to my current setup.

I was thinking of using one of the LAN ethernet connection from one of the rooms to link up the wireless router. Is this setup possible? I'm not sure if a wireless router can be setup within an existing wired router LAN connection... Is there a special setting I need to do?

When my DSL is hooked up directly to my computer it works just fine. I connect it up to my wireless router (with wireless card in my computer) and it works great for about 15 minutes and then it just stops. All the lights on everything are still on or blinking like they were before. When I plug back into the computer everything works again.... and the cycle goes again when I try the wireless again. I never had this problem with the cable modem and I'm tired of being bound by wires!!!
Any advice is appreciated ;o)

Thanks,
Adriene

I have a NetGear FVS318 router. Today I got a 15MB cable connection. Without the router it really is 15MB, with the router it is down to <9MB. Is there anything I can do? Do I need a new router?

What is the best isp in the uk? I currently have an Orange Livebox and each time I turn my computers they it lose the settings and it becomes impossible to establish a wireless connection. I have been told that the Livebox is notoriously temperemental and that it often conflicts with computers. I need an ISP who provides a free wireless connection.

In a previous question I asked how to set up my router and stated several problems i have had. I have tried almost everything anyone can think of. One of the answers someone said this "Have you read the instructions and followed the part about setting up your router using IE and the IP address they supply?"

Where do I get this information. There was only an installation cd that came with the router. It is a Netgear Rangemax 240 Wireless Router WPNT834

I have a wireless network set up and will be allowing a roommate access on it. It is secured WEP with a passphrase and everything. However I am confused - once I give this person access, is it just to the internet or is there actually some way for them to access any pc connected on this network? If it's the latter, how can I avoid that while still allowing that person access to internet? Thanks!
