In a previous question I asked how to set up my router and stated several problems i have had. I have tried almost everything anyone can think of. One of the answers someone said this "Have you read the instructions and followed the part about setting up your router using IE and the IP address they supply?"

Where do I get this information. There was only an installation cd that came with the router. It is a Netgear Rangemax 240 Wireless Router WPNT834

Look on the CD for a readme.txt file or some other document containing instructions.

As for where to find the info. I can't tell you on a netgear, but on linksys, if you open IE and go to the address 192.168.1.1 then it will bring up the router page. It may ask for a password, sometimes the default is admin or there may not even be one.

To find out your IP address, click on , then , and type "cmd", then press ENTER..this will open a DOS window. Inside this window, type "ipconfig" and press ENTER. The result will not only show the IP address that your PC has, but you will see something called a default gateway. This will be your router's IP address. Typically you can put this address into your browser to administer the router. (ie. http://192.168.1.1). If it appears that the default gateway and your own IP address are the same, then your PC is not communicating with your router. Then check your cable connections and make sure your network card is ok. (Also assuming that your router is ok as well.)
