The service provider won't know it. There are 2 different kinds of IP one being public and the other being private. Public IP's are used across the internet and private IP's are used on internal lan's. So your router probably comes with dhcp and will assign all your computers a private ip address. Your WAN port on the router will get a public IP address provided by your ISP (Internet Service Provider). Your router will then do NAT(Network address translation). Since the private IP's can't be used on the internet the router will send everything across the public IP your ISP provided.

Yes they can trace it. They see your router's IP and monitor the traffic to and from it.

If you are doing something illegal, they don't care how many PC's are connected to your router. They have proof that your router was the source.

What they probably MEAN is that theyu won't support you in that arrangement - which is fair enough.

Shouldn't stop you from doing it though. Plug the wireless router into the broadband box and you are on your way.

You can do it. You might find certain online games won't behave - especially if you intend to have multiple computers running the same game.
