I have Verizon DSL and want to be able to use it more outside my home--up to 1000 feet maybe. I bought a wireless G plus router, but could not get it to work. Any ideas?

I am going to be installing DSL in my home. I don't have any phone jacks to spare for connecting the modem, so I am going to be using a splitter so I can have both the phone and the modem connected. My question is how to I go about installing the DSL filter on this phone jack? Do I just put it on the plug that the phone connects to on the splitter? I am sorry if this seems like a stupid question. I have never done this before and I can't seem to find the answer any where else. Thank you.

Ok so it seems I can connect just fine to an unsecure network, but when I try to connect to a secure network and use the correct password it just sits saying "Acquiring network address" but never connects. I am using a Motorola wireless card if that helps any. How can I get connected? Please help

I currently have Sky broadband and it takes me 45mins to download a 45 min tv show. I've been told that I should be able to download this in 10mins as I have 8meg broadband. What could be slowing down my connection? I share my connection (as you can also use it wirelessly) with my laptop and both are very slow. On my laptop it takes as long as 1hr to download an hour long podcast! My pc is connected through an ethernet cable and not wirelessly.
On my computer it also takes ages to play games (on Miniclip etc.) as the characters move very slowly. The graphics are of a lower quality than on my laptop.
I've asked around and been told I could have a virus on my computer and/ or spyware. I've downloaded SpyBot and ran it and destroyed anything its found. Is there any other free antivirus software you'd recommend?
Basically, do you have any ideas as to why my computer is so slow and is there any antivirus software you'd recommend?
Thanks a lot
Anj xx

Ok I'ts about my PSP.I am ready to smash it and feed it to my dog..

I tried connecting it,but it won't work!

First,I go to "NetWork Settings"

I click on it, And i select "Infracture Mode"

Then I select "New Connection"

I name my connecntion

Then I Scan for my network

My PSP finds network

Since my router has securtity on it,i insert my WEP key.

Then for adress settings,i select easy.

Then I save it and when i try to connect to my wirless network,it says

"Connecting to the access point....." Obtaining IP adress...."

"Conncection to the server failed. A DNS error has occured. (8041040D)

I did turn on my switch at the side of the PSP on.

I even sometimes go very close to the router.

But it will NOT work.

If noone helps me i will feed it to my dog..

Thanks!

I have a PePlink Surf 200BG. I contacted the network manager and a tech at a place that sells PePlinks. Nobody knows the solution for it. I have a windows XP Media Center Edition 2005. It started on around February 12, when the network manager said it was supposed to be down. But when the maintenance ended, the PePlink still went up and down. It goes down for about 1 minute and stays up for about 3 minutes. The Network Manager said I had a very strong connection to them. I got it to come up yesterday afternoon (22nd of feb) and it was up all yesterday, but this morning it was back to going up and down. I just restarted my computer and it was on. I've tried repairing my connection, restarting my computer, unplugging the PePlink and plugging it back in again...Whenever my internet goes down, my local area connection comes up w/ a notice that says "A network cable is unplugged".But after that notice goes away, it doesn't see that the internet is down. Any suggestions? Ty in advance.

Both of my laptops can connect to Linksys router, but my internet connection type is PPoE, meaning, before i can connect to the internet, I have to dial the user id and password on any of the two laptops. The problem is i cant connect at the same time, i can only connect to Internet if the other laptop is not connected. Please note that I have no problem on my router connection, both of my laptops are connected while trying to connect to Internet.

for some reason, my modem wont hand the IP to my router, its like the cable isnt sending any data, its not my computer or anything, and im using factory settings, but my modem wont let my router get to the internet. it works fine when i plug in to the modem directly, but i have 4 other computers who depend on the wireless network, only the linksys router wont connect to the internet, so its kinda useless. any idea on what i should do? i tried usind deferent cables, but nobody can get online if they use the router, wired or wireless. i have no idea what i should do or whare to start

And also when my computer is playing 5.1 channel audio and everything on my computer is configured for 5 speakers the front and center channels sound good but the other channels are really quiet... is there any way to fix this... this is all virtual surround sound everything came ready for this audio method...

I just ran virus scan and it detected 700 viruses in a folder that does not exist on my computer, even when i select "show hidden files and folders". There were files there that i definitely had not downloaded.

How can this be?

My computer is on a network.

Has someone hi-jacked my computer? if so, what can i do to stop this? is it something to do with firewall settings?
