The wireless network configuration utility can select to block certain IPs, etc. Are there any ways around this blocker (ie. is there a program that will find an IP that's fine)? Please see http://kbserver.netgear.com/pdf/wgr614v6_ref_man_20Apr05.pdf page 37 for more information on how this works.

we can see the old network on the 'Avaliable Wireless Networks' and connect to it. However, we can't get internet connection to it, and we don't know to change the network name and create a password. I've looked and I don't have a disc that matches the router.

Where do I start?

If so what are some pros & cons? We are thinking about it and wanted more info. Seems like all the web sites so far are partial to their own company. No bias feedback to be found yet.

I have installed & configured a 10/100Mbps Ethernet Card but it is unable to connect to the network. I have used similar NIC in past, so no probs with the TCP/IP settings. The network adapter is showing up as "This device is working properly" in the Device Manager, yet it is not getting connected. Even the ping feature is returning "no reply". Any clues? (PS. network is working fine, coz if NIC is replaced with the earlier one, the computer is getting connected) Pls help if this indicates the NIC to be a defective one.

If someone could give me some helpful advice(fixes my problem) I will send you $20.Here's the rundown. I have dial-up internet.I use Mozilla Firefox. My internet used to be kinda fast(for dial-up), but in the past week or two, it has become much slower. Certain websites will just "time-out" when i try to get on them. One instance/day these websites work another time/day they won't. I do defrag, diskcleanup, delete cookies, delete temporary files on a regular basis. My phone line is still plugged in.And my computer says I'm connected. My homepage always comes up just fine, but any website i goto after that is inconsistent as far as opening.I have a Zonealarm firewall & AVG antivirus free edition. if you need anymore details e-mail me at foofightin1341@owensboro.net. and if you help me get this internet back to normal, then i will send you $20.

If I don't plan on using the wireless feature right away and am only planning to create a wired network, then is there a difference between the wired routers and the 4 port switch on the back of the wireless router? Because I can get a wireless router for much cheaper than a wired one, and if I do plan to use a wireless internet connection in the future, I'll have that option if I buy a wireless router to create my wired network.

I need so that when I get my new computer, both computers could go online at the same time.I also got so I could connect my Nintendo DS to the internet. I hooked up the Router without any problems into I got to the end. It told me I was missing four peices of important information to get the router started.
These are the four pieces I need:

I'm told that AOL does not seem to be compatible with setting up a wireless network - apparently a large percentage of routers etc won't work if you have AOL. Just wondered if anyone has found a way around this problem?

I got a Wifimax (a wi fi device which goes into the USB port and beams out the signal to whatever computers you want in your wireless network). I want to use it with a PSP and a laptop. But although it appears to be connected and my laptop is detecting it, I can't actually get them to connect.

I looked in the wireless network settings and it says "Limited or no connectivity" and when you go into 'details' the message reads:
"You might not be able to access the internet or some network resources. This problem occurred because the network did not assign a network address to this computer".

Is this something I can fix, and does anyone know how? Or can AOL do anything about it? Has anyone else managed to get one of these things working with an AOL computer?

Is there any way to block a port(i.e 6877 or ftp port 21) on windows computer using the command line.

In windows XP you can do this with windows firewall but is there any way to do this on Win2000 (if the computer is not connected to a router).
Any help would be appreciated.
