A week ago, I bought a Wireless-G broadband Router for my comuputer (1). I need so that when I get my new computer, both computers could go online at the same time.I also got so I could connect my Nintendo DS to the internet. I hooked up the Router without any problems into I got to the end. It told me I was missing four peices of important information to get the router started.
These are the four pieces I need:
-Subnet Mask
-Gateway
-DNS 1
-DNS 2
How do you find these four on your computer?

Your going to need some CAT-5 cable to plug into the back of your cable modem and run it to the back of your router. Your cable modem needs a way to "talk" to your router.

ok, this is how your connection should look.

WALL--->Cable Modem--->(WAN Port)Router--->(Ethernet Port)Computer

Setups for routers are different depending on make and model and since you did not mention what you have ill give you generic instructions.

On your computer open your web browser and type 192.168.0.1 in the address bar.

this should get you to your routers setup features.

the most important thing that needs to be setup in the router is your ISP connection type. If you are using a cable modem your most likely using a dynamic IP address. Select that option.

If you are using a DSL connection you are probably using a PPPOE connection. Select that and also input your ISP username and password.

Under the wireless options of your router give your router a name in the SSID area. I would not enable security yet until you have successfuly established a wireless connection with a computer or your game console to make sure it works first.

Go to your DHCP Options and make sure it is enabled. Restart the router and that should do it.

Any wireless router will support lots of wireless connections. The limit will be 64 or more. If you have the netgear router working for one wireless PC then adding the others should be fairly easy. Set them same as the first. If you have one PC connected by wire to the router then you have to figure out how to turn the wireless on and how to set up security (very important).
