Channel selecting will not affect its range, but you should look at other wireless signal in your area and try to stay off the channels they are using as that can cause interference and degrade your connection.

I suggest going to netstumbler.com and downloading netstumbler. This will allow you to see all the other wireless networks in your area and what channels and SSID's they are using. Channels 1, 6 and 11 have the least amount of freq. overlap. So if you see other networks using channel 6, yopu should use 1 or 11.

Sorry - off the shelf on the spot adapters are no longer designed for that distance The FCC limits the potential a WIFI transmitter can radiate, the two for protection reasons and to avert interference WIFI is designed for a optimal variety of one hundred meters, (3 hundred feet) yet somewhat isn't sturdy plenty previous one hundred feet different than in open factors. you could make greater desirable the variety of a on the spot sign 2 techniques via putting repeaters between stations to retransmit the sign using extreme benefit antennas to develop reception bear in recommendations that WIFI is an extremely extreme frequency sign and does no longer persist with the curve of the earth real properly. So all antennas want a clean line of sight - timber, homes potential strains, all degrade the sign A a million/2 mile? no longer likely mate

the effect won't really be noticable. I have heard if you use channel 1 or 13 you will be less likely to receive interference from other sources as the channels in the middle overlap with other devices, such as cordless phones.
