Would like have wireless access to my DSL service and only have one computer. After configuring the router/access point with my laptop, can I disconnect the wired ethernet connection and access using only wireless? Or, does one computer always have to be hard wired to the network.

NO, you do not. the only time you need to hardwire it, is to perform the initial setup, or to make any changes to your settings. its a wireless router, that requires no computer to be hardwired to maintain its wireless capabilities. if you cant get on wirelessly, chances are your configurations are off. make sure its secured, i prefer WEP 128 bit. then make up an SSID to identify it from other wifi'ers around you. find your SSID, type in your WEP and you should be in.

No, you need to configure your computer to connect to your wireless network. On Windows, normally when you start it up a popup will say you are not connected to a wireless network or you can Click Start> Connect To> Wireless Network, find your network on the list (if you have AT&T it should be called 2WIREXXX, the x's being the last 3 numbers of your router serial number on the bottom.) Then when you select it and click connect it'll ask you to type in the password (on AT&T the number in brackets under your router) then you can go to Internet Explorer and you should be online
If this doesn't work, sorry I tried...

No, you definitely dont need a wired computer. But just remember, since you are using wireless now, to perform some simple security measures on your wireless network. These things will prevent others who are in range of your router to piggy back and use the connection you are paying for.
For example, make sure your router isnt broadcasting its name, and that your network is password protected.

You shouldnt need ANY PC hardwired to a wireless router. Just run the networking wizard on every wireless PC you want connected.

you do not need any computer wired to your router after the initial installation is completed. I have my router sitting on top of my entertainment center in my livingroom with 3 computers in other rooms connected wirelessly.

many routers require that you perform configuration with a wired computer, but u certainly dont have to have a wired computer at all times

i dont mean to sound insulting, but every1 who says 1 computer must always be wired is just stupid
