Most of these answers are crap, except the one that mentioned a firewall. I am not 100% sure what you are referring to, but what I think you mean is you are connecting remotely to a corporate network via a VPN and you want to keep outsiders from hacking your computer. If so it doesn't matter whether you are connecting to a corporate network or not, you need to install a firewall. (Your corporate network will be protected by a firewall too, so you're in no greater danger connected to the corporate network than connected just to the Internet.) I don't know what version of Windows you have installed, but most of them (e.g. XP) have a built in firewall, and they are usually pretty aggressive about getting you to enable it. To check, go to Start/Control Panel and then to Security Center. Click on Windows Firewall. It should say On. If you have a version of Windows that doesn't have a firewall (and do a help search for firewall before you do this, it may be configured differently in your version of Windows), buy a third party firewall software package, there are plenty of them out there.

make ur own account. and copy everything to that account so u can still access the company's account and everything u worked on is there but u only use the account u created, put a password on it and if u leave ur computer alone put it in stand by so it will ask the password of the account. that's the only thing u can do but it won't do u much help cos the guy who wants to use ur computer can also go to the company's account, but u can cloak the company's account if u want to ( therefor u have to have at least windows XP, but i guess u are using that system already...) but well it would be weird if ur boss comes and want to use ur computer and he can't access his own system...

Ok

If i understand this good, you mean working from your home and accessing your companies network ???? If this is the case then you first we have to look at HOW you are connecting to your company . Now if its via VPN , then you need to put a firewall on your pc and then just open THE ONLY port from wish to connect to the company

But like i said if this is the way you are connecting. Now if you are connecting via another way then just let me know

Good hackers are everywhere, but unless your Password is public knowledge NOBODY should be able to get into your compute no matter where it is located.

if it is the company provided/owned computer, you can't legally do anything to prevent their monitoring of your activity. that is their property and they have full rights to the equipment and its use.

I like to leave a piece of fake crap on my computer chair. That usually encourages them to find another computer.
