I have a PePlink Surf 200BG. I contacted the network manager and a tech at a place that sells PePlinks. Nobody knows the solution for it. I have a windows XP Media Center Edition 2005. It started on around February 12, when the network manager said it was supposed to be down. But when the maintenance ended, the PePlink still went up and down. It goes down for about 1 minute and stays up for about 3 minutes. The Network Manager said I had a very strong connection to them. I got it to come up yesterday afternoon (22nd of feb) and it was up all yesterday, but this morning it was back to going up and down. I just restarted my computer and it was on. I've tried repairing my connection, restarting my computer, unplugging the PePlink and plugging it back in again...Whenever my internet goes down, my local area connection comes up w/ a notice that says "A network cable is unplugged".But after that notice goes away, it doesn't see that the internet is down. Any suggestions? Ty in advance.

try going to your start menu > control panel > administrative tools > event viewer > click on the system tab and see if you see any warnings. if you do, you should right click on it and click on properties to see what it is. if you don't know what it is post again and ask for help.

I'm not familiar with the PEPLINK device but have a few suggestions.
First would be to clear your temp files, cookies, CACHE and DNS entries. the first three can e done via the IE tools. The DNS can be done by doing this. Click on START / RUN / type this in IPCONFIG /FLUSHDNS then press enter.

Second would be to go to the hardware manager and go to your NIC (Network Interface Card) and check the properties. 99% of all the computers I have touches have the power save function on. Look for and remove the check mark stating "Allow the computer to turn off this device to conserve power".

Finally, if the PepLink device is a CABLE or DSL modem, it might be failing and need to be replaced.

Are you doing a lot of downloading from torrent sites? If so, they cause your wireless connection to "disconnect" at times. If not, you might have an ip configuration problem or your modem software might need to be updated because it is causing a conflict. Those are usually the reasons that the wireless fails on my networks. Hope this helped.
