Your modem and your laptop must be Wi-Fi. You can find out about that if your modem has an antenna and if your laptop has a button that is for Wi-Fi. If your modem and your laptop has these, then you will have to make the connection.

You need a wireless router to connect without wire,also,a wireless card for the laptop to connect to the wireless router.
