The only way they would know is if they had a NIDS (network intrusion detection system) to monitor traffic moving through there network.

Or for them to call there ISP (internet service provider) and ask them to give a detailed printed of the sites they've visited.

Both are highly unlikely. So unless you're taking up at least 75% of their bandwidth and they start to ask the ISP about it or secure there network. You should be good.

Yes. They can without any special utilities or software.

In addition, if any of it's illegal, authorities will bust them, since illegal activity is the responsibility of the router owner. (Although your MAC address is not unique to their network, they will be busted. It's their responsibility to secure their internet access.)

Go get your own internet access. And do the right thing and advise them of their security hole so they can set a password. Sure, you can get away with using their network until you have your own, but it's still a jerk move.

No, but the owner's ISP will know. If you do something wrong on his/her wireless connection, you will be busted.

Yes indeed, if he owns it, he has access to the connectors visits. If there are rules against porn sites, behave yourself or you could be paying for another connection service
