You can't go wrong with linksys, or Netgear. Both are excellent. You know you will also need a pci wireless adapter or a usb wireless adapter for every other computer you want to connect to the router. Make sure you get the same brand of adapters as the router is it makes it easier and avoids any compatibility issues. Make sure you turn on the wep or some sort of security to keep your neighbors from using your connection. You connect the broadband modem to the router and then connect the router to your usb or Ethernet connections on your computer, but not both. Make sure you read the directions and install everything in the exact order they tell you to . You should not have any problems if you follow the directions exactly.

yes, Linksys is good, but I always recommend Netgear. some people disagree, but i've had my netgear router and adapters for close to 7 years now, and, though outdated, still run great and are very reliable.

There's only limitations between the different types of routers. The Wireless G routers will all produce the same results, but the Wireless N is the newest thing, but still outragously pricey.

The Netgear WRT614 and 624 are good Wireless G routers, and i think they would fit your buget nicely. ($50-$70).

The only other thing you need is to make sure that all your computers have wireless adapters (most new laptops do, but desktops typically do not.)

good luck and happy networking!

I don't know anything about Netgear, but I like Linksys a lot. They have 24/7 live tech support, with hardly ever a wait. Their tech support is in India, but most of the techs speak English clear enough to understand them without straining. Consider buying used on eBay. Linksys does not require a serial number or receipt for tech support.

I have a D-link, and it has been very reliable. The initial set-up is kind of confusing, but the tech line is open until late at night to help, and they got me off and running. :)
