I have set up a LAN with 7 computers. We are linked together via a hub, but don't have access to the internet. I need to find a way to set up a LAN communication system that will allow inter-network e-mail as well as inter-network chat.

do a google search for free LAN chat.

Setting up a mail server is going to be more difficult. Try going with Linux and you get a decent mail server built in.

You need to find two different applications. Usually LAN messaging systems doesn't operate with email servers. Local IM just see every computer in LAN, you can send messages and transfer files to others persons.

noooooooo.Don`t believ this. this may well be a pretend. And MSN and Yahoo have greater loose slots for sparkling clientele the comparable difficulty with the forwarded e mail (the story that your buddy gets an ipod in case you deliver this message to absolutely everyone else, they get your e mail adress and deliver you unsolicited mail) So. This fantasy is busted.
