I am about to get Orange broadband and im worried tha ti can't set up port forwarding etc and so am interested in hooking up my older DG834g netgear router instead which I assume has more options on it. Anybody able to help?

Should be able to use any router you want, especially if its connected to the cablem modem.

Any router should work OK. Just enter your user name and password and the router should do the rest for you. It worked for me on Tiscali. F.Y.O. It's a good idea to run the cable from the wall socket via the anti surge ports on your multiway power board,if you have one. I have had two routers fail due to line transients. At £65.00 a pop it's no joke.

No sorry you will have to use the 'livebox' provided by Orange to connect to their broadband.

you can use any router matey. I use a wireless d link with orange no probs
