There are two ansers to your question.
Generally a server provides something to other computers. The first piece is software-based and certain software servers can actually run on regular Desktop computers.
The second piece is server hardware which has generally better performance than a Desktop computer for server applications.
For example, a web server product like Apache or IIS running on an IBM Server Blade Center.

Server is the system where a System Administrator sits and administrates the system's that is in the office. The amount depends upon the server capability.
there r number of OS for server's and the amount can b depending upon the OS. It is a very important part of the office and if it is hacked then the company is in loss as the company depends to the server and server operates all the systems of the company.

A server is, very simply, a computer that ties clients together. The clients link to the server to access network resources, shared files databases and software. The more that is on the server, the thinner the clients are.

I think it is wrong for female altar servers, but not just alter servers.Any woman up on the altar or women being Eucharistic minsters. I don't go along with men being Eucharistic minsters either. The rules have been taken way out of context. Also it originally did not come out of Rome. It came from the American Bishop Councils, not the pope. Just like a lot of other things they have changed. Did you know that Eucharistic Minsters are only to be used when there is over 200 people in the church and there is only one priest. Anything under 200 the priest is supposed to do it himself. Now I go to daily mass and when they have Holy Communion they have at least 2 Eucharistic Minsters there and there is only about 25 people. Since when can't a priest handle 25 people, who are receiving Our Lord. I have even seen them, the priest sit down while the Eucharistic Minster gives out communion. This is so wrong and a parishioner has the right to receive from a priest if the priest is on the altar. BTW it is in the bible about women on the altar. St Paul to the Corinthians's and the Old testament also. Very specific rules. You don't take bits and pieces out of the bible so that they suit you. If you believe in it you believe in it totally. I don't know why Jesus wanted only men on the altar. He must have had His reasons but this is what He wanted, not man. Altar boys are for the purpose of grooming these young men so they see what it's like to be a priest. No girl can be a priest so why should they be on the altar. As far as them going into the sisterhood. Look at our convents are there any women in them No. The vocations have dwindled. Only the traditional convents have vocations. There must be a reason for this. Don't you think. But I'm getting of the subject. Our faith has been so watered down that it is terrible. We need to get back to the old traditions and rites we had before all the changes. We have lost too much respect for the Blessed Sacrament, Who is the main stay of our faith. I am not critizing any one who feels differently, This is only how I feel about it. God Bless you.

In information technology, a server is a computer system that provides services to other computing systems—called clients—over a network. The term server can refer to hardware (such as a Sun computer system) or software (such as an RDBMS server).
