There's something strange about my cable connection (Shaw Cable), or i think it has something to do with my cable.
This had been going on for over three months at least. It doesn't matter which web browser i use (firefox, opera, IE etc) Sometimes my connection will just get "stuck" on any site at anytime. When i mean stuck, i mean nothing is going on. Even google gets "stucked". The connection icon at the bottom right corner said cable is connected, but when i tried to load a new page, it wouldn't flash blue at all. To summarize my first problem: at any random time when i surf on the internet, pages just wouldn't load up.

My second problem is that my connection gets disconnected from time to time. It'd happen at least once within an hour or so. It would just get disconnected, and comes back in a few seconds.
However, i don't seem to getting this problem when playing online games.

Any cause of this problem, and possibly a solution?

More details:

My computer is directly connected on to the modem, and i do have other computers running wire less as well.
I think my computer WAS infected by spyware because i've experienced through some wrong "error messages" etc. I've cleaned them all with anti-spyware/virus programs.
However, this cable disconnection problem still exist.

An internet connection can become slow or stop working due to a number of reasons depending on the type of the connection. Many of the problems can be solved by making software changes or small hardware corrections. Detailed instructions at http://tinyurl.com/yl62gz

If you have a network cable from your cable modem to your router, try plugging that directly into your PC instead. If you continue to get failures, then it's most likely your ISP or a faulty cable modem. If the failures stop then your router was likely the problem. If you only have one PC, then don't need the router and can connect the cable modem directly into your PC - unless your router is built into your cable modem, which is sometimes the case. If that is what you have, call your ISP and ask them to run a diagnostic on it or ask them to replace it. It's also possible that you have a virus or spyware on one or more of your computers which is actually causing the disconnect, so make sure to run a full virus scan and spyware scan. If you have multiple PCs on your network, scan all of them and try testing your internet connection with only one PC at a time connected. This will help you determine if one of your computers is the problem. If it is, take it to a professional technician to have the problem diagnosed and fixed.

I'm not really computer literate but I would just make sure that your computer is cleaned out and that everything checks out okay. I can help you with your cable problem though. Take a look at the modem, where it says cable, make sure the light is not flashing. You may have a problem with a low signal, high upstream, or the internet may be going through an amplifier through the house.

Are you sure about your connections ... You said your computer is connected directly to the cable modem, but you also said you have a wireless network as well...

If pc1 is connected directly to the cable modem, try connecting pc2 directly to the cable modem instead to see if it gets disconnected. If it does, then the problem is with the cable modem or a poor signal from Shaw and you should call them. If pc2 does not have the same issue with getting disconnected, then you have proven that all is ok w/ the cable modem & signal and the problem is with the network card in pc1.

How are you connecting to your cable ? Directly to the modem or via a router with ethernet or wireless? If wireless, check for possible interference with other sources of EM. Make sure there isn't a timeout on your wireless connection (click on wireless connection properties under network connections). Without any more information on how your connected, this is the best I can provide for now.

Cable disconnections arent uncommon but if it persists, call your provider. As far as pages locking up, I would be more inclined to believe your system is infested with adware and spyware! You might also have too many programs running in the background eating up your ram.

I think that the problem is most like that you did not setup the connection properly. In addition, you computer does not able to handle the connection speed by the server. If your connection is too fast, it might cause the hardware to struck or disconnect.

Did you try to restart the connection? or setup its again from the start? it might help.

It is just my theory. You might properly call a service to check it.

If it's a cable problem (rf signal issue), call your cable company and have them check signal levels.

Since your internet gets "stuck" with each browser, check your pc settings. Run anti-virus and anti spyware software. Make sure you don't have any proxy settings.

Sounds like you might have a virus or trojan. Update your antivirus software and run a full system scan.

There are tons of free apps you can download and use to scan and remove malicious code, malware, browser hijacks and junk.

Delete your Temporary Internet files, cookies too!

The following downloads should help get things cleaned up.

First of all make sure you have done regular maintenance on your PC.
Under the start button go to programs accessories then disk clean up,, run that afterwards repeat start programs accessories and choose disk defrag. click on drive c and defrag it.
When that is complete, power down your moden and shut down your pc,, wait a couple of minutes and restart the modem,, then wait 30 seconds and boot your pc and see if this has fixed the issue.
